L.A.B Golf OZ.1i HS Putter Gents LH
L.A.B. Golf putters are a pretty unique category in putting—very different from traditional designs—so it’s worth breaking them down properly: the technology, main models, and the Press grip system (which is a big part of how they work).
Core concept behind L.A.B. putters
The entire brand is built around one idea: Lie Angle Balance (L.A.B.).
- Traditional putters twist (torque) during the stroke
- L.A.B. putters are engineered to eliminate torque completely
- This keeps the face square to the path without manipulation
In simple terms:
You don’t have to “hold the face square” - the putter does it for you.
- This is achieved through shaft position + lie angle + head weighting
- The putter balances so it naturally returns square through impact
Heel-shafted putters have been around forever. No reason they shouldn’t be balanced. OZ.1i HS is the latest chapter in our mission to help every golfer putt better.
We couldn’t just mount a heel shaft to any L.A.B. Golf model and call it a day. Lie Angle Balance is more precise than that, and the geometry of the head plays a huge role. We chose the OZ.1i chassis because it was the best fit to deliver a heel-shafted putter that actually balances.
OZ.1i HS is built with the same aluminum body and fly-milled stainless steel insert as the original OZ.1i. The difference is in the proprietary aluminum riser (it’s in the heel by the way) that delivers Lie Angle Balance. The result is a putter that’s just as forgiving as the original OZ.1i but with a look that’s a lot more traditional.
Shaft Lean Options
- Vertical Shaft Lean delivers a more classic view at address and no press grip is required, so it works with any putter grip.
- Forward Shaft Lean naturally positions the hands slightly ahead of the face and pairs perfectly with any press grip.
Custom Options
The Custom version of OZ.1i HS offers our full range of industry-leading customizations. Every putter is hand-balanced and assembled, going through up to 10 stages of craftsmanship before it leaves our shop.
What “HS” (Heel Shafted) Means
- First time L.A.B. offered a heel-shafted design (previous models were centre-shafted).
- Gives a more traditional look at address, closer to what most golfers are used to.
- Appeals to players who didn’t like the look of earlier L.A.B. putters or centre shafted putters.
Unique Engineering
Proprietary aluminium riser hosel
- Connects shaft at the heel while maintaining Lie Angle Balance.
- Allows precise fitting across multiple lie angles (approx. 65°–74°).
Multi-material head
- 6061 aluminium body + 303 stainless steel insert
- Produces firmer feel + consistent ball speed.
Performance Characteristics
- Face stays square naturally → less need to “release” the putter
- High stability & forgiveness for a mid-mallet shape
- Strong distance control due to insert and balanced weighting
- Designed to reduce face angle variability at impact
Look & Setup
- More conventional shape
- Mid-mallet, thinner topline vs other LAB models
- Improved alignment visuals for many golfers
Options for:
- Alignment lines
- Head colours
- Shaft & grip combinations
Shaft Lean & Grip System
Can be built with:
- 0° (traditional setup)
- ~2° forward shaft lean (Press Grip)
- L.A.B. Press grips help preset forward press for better roll and consistency
Who It Suits
Golfers who:
- Want L.A.B. tech but traditional looks
- Prefer heel-shafted feel and visual
- Struggle with face control/consistency
